Purpose Driven Position
Reporting to the VP, APAC & EMEA, the Technical Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and coordinating technical operations across the Asia‑Pacific region to ensure successful installation, service delivery, and long-term customer success for CarbonCure’s solution. This role oversees both internal technical staff and external distributor partners, ensuring operational consistency, high-quality execution, and continuous improvement across all markets in the APAC sales region.
The Technical Manager, APAC, serves as the primary regional contact for technical strategy, installation excellence, equipment reliability, concrete performance, and regulatory enablement, playing a crucial role in CarbonCure’s growth and customer satisfaction throughout the APAC region.
This is a remote position, with preference for candidates located in Japan, South Korea, or Taiwan for proximity to customer sites.
What you'll be doing
Regional Technical Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage day-to-day activities of regional technical staff, consultants, and distributor field technicians across Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and emerging markets.
- Provide hands-on leadership through coaching, site visits, and performance feedback to ensure consistent quality and adherence to CarbonCure standards.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive technical competency program, including onboarding and training for employees, distributors, and third-party partners.
- Establish and reinforce best practices for safety, installation, troubleshooting, concrete testing, and customer communication.
Customer Success & Technical Execution:
- Own and execute on the regional technical strategy in alignment with APAC roadmaps for Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and additional developing markets.
- Lead technical delivery for stages 2–5 of our Value Stream Map (VSM), including:
- Pre‑installation planning and scheduling
- On‑site installations and commissioning
- Ongoing preventive maintenance
- Concrete validation testing (both in laboratory and field)
- Optimization of system performance and carbon credit revenue
- Manage relationships and workflows with third‑party labs to support testing requirements for cement validation.
- Oversee limited‑resource service models in smaller markets such as Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Hong Kong, ensuring reliable customer support and escalation paths.
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives to elevate service levels, reduce downtime, and standardize processes across the region.
Operational Excellence:
- Establish and refine regional equipment assembly, refurbishment, and maintenance capabilities to reduce lead times and enhance reliability.
- Develop and sustain a vetted network of equipment vendors, service providers, and concrete technicians, particularly in high‑priority markets.
- Oversee technical planning and forecasting, ensuring the region delivers on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to installation output, uptime, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with R&D and Engineering teams to provide field insights that influence product design, quality improvements, and operational improvements.
Regulatory & Market Development:
- Lead APAC regulatory strategies, including obtaining and maintaining certifications such as JIS (Japan), KS (Korea), and other standards required for new and existing market entry.
- Support and participate in industry engagement initiatives and customer advocacy groups.
- In collaboration with the VP, APAC & EMEA, conduct market assessments for expansion opportunities in other regions, outlining technical requirements, risks, and operational needs for successful entry.
- Represent CarbonCure at technical symposiums, regulatory meetings, and partner discussions as a regional subject-matter expert.
This role will require travel throughout the APAC region, up to 50%.
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong technical foundation in concrete mix design management. Experience in hardware engineering, industrial equipment, software systems, and field service operations are additional assets.
- Proven leadership experience managing distributed technical teams across multiple countries and cultures.
- Prior experience in the concrete, construction, or industrial equipment sector.
- Familiarity with construction-related regulatory approval processes; experience with JIS, KS, or similar standards is an asset.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to execute operational tasks while contributing to long-term regional growth initiatives.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with sales, technical services, engineering & product development.
- Bilingual capabilities, with strong preference for Japanese and English; additional APAC languages are an asset (e.g. Korean, Cantonese).
- Valid passport and willingness to travel up to 50%.
