About Hometree Finance

Hometree Finance is a small but rapidly growing division within the Hometree Group. This gives us the agility advantages of a startup but with the resources and support that comes from being part of a much larger business.

Our mission is to help consumers across the UK make better choices about how they heat and power their homes. We’ll do this by taking away the challenge of affordability (by offering best in market low-cost finance) and the fear of the uncertain (by giving peace of mind through all-inclusive finance, maintenance and repair products).

In October 2023 we launched our first renewable finance product - the Solar Plan. This has exceeded all our expectations in terms of market demand, so we are accelerating our plans to grow the business and our capabilities as quickly as possible.

We are currently a team of 10 based in London, the North West and Spain. Despite our small size we are supported by the wider Hometree organisation and backed by major institutional investors including Legal & General and Black Rock.

We will deploy over £1B of capital into green home energy equipment such as Solar PV, batteries and heat pumps over the next 5 years, so we are looking to complete a top tier leadership team who will help deliver that rapid growth.

The Role

As Hometree Finance’s first Sales Director you will have the opportunity to create, own and deliver a Go To Market strategy to achieve our ambitious growth targets (at least 10x during the first year, and more beyond) and ultimately to secure Hometree Finance’s position as the UK’s leading provider of specialist consumer finance for domestic energy equipment.


  • Go-To-Market Strategy: Develop and implement a robust Go-To-Market strategy to meet our ambitious growth targets and establish Hometree Finance as the UK's leading provider of consumer finance for domestic energy equipment.
  • Partner Network Management: Recruit, motivate, and develop a network of third-party renewable installers to offer our finance products to their customers.
  • Internal Collaboration: Support in-house installation businesses by sharing best practices and providing hands-on commercial support to optimise the use of our finance products.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Identify and pursue strategic partnership opportunities to significantly increase business volume.
  • Performance Targets: Achieve key targets related to the number of installer firms offering our finance products and the number of consumers utilising them.
  • Operations Support: Ensure installer partners meet high standards for customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and manage a small commercial team to support our ambitious growth plans over the next 3-5 years.

What we’re looking for:

  • Commercial Leadership: Extensive experience in a senior commercial role within financial services, renewable energy, or home improvement financing. Proven track record of developing and executing successful Go To Market strategies that cater to B2B markets, leveraging industry knowledge to drive commercial success.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Demonstrated ability to identify, secure, and manage strategic B2B partnerships that drive significant business growth.
  • Sales-Driven: Sales-driven mindset with a focus on achieving targets and driving business volume through strategic B2B partnerships and network management. Experienced in developing sales strategies, managing sales pipelines, and achieving revenue growth through effective partnership management.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with compliance and regulatory issues in consumer finance, ensuring partners meet high standards for customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and guide a small commercial team towards achieving ambitious growth targets.
  • Strategic Thinking: Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to develop and implement effective Go To Market strategies.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and engage effectively with external partners and stakeholders.

Extra Credit:

  • Renewable Energy Sector Knowledge: A background in renewable energy technologies and markets, such as solar panels, heat pumps, batteries, and EV chargers, will be a major plus.
  • Home Financing Expertise: Possessing experience in the home financing sector.

Our Recruitment Process:

  • Initial Call: Start with an introductory call with our Director of People and Culture to discuss the role and your potential fit. (30 mins)
  • Skills-Based Interview: Engage in a detailed discussion about your past experiences with our Managing Director. (1 hr)
  • Stakeholder Interview: Spend time with the two senior to explore motivation, alignment and expectations. (1 hr)
  • Final In-Person Interview: Conclude the process with a face-to-face meeting with our CEO, focusing on your strategic vision and potential contributions to the company. (1 hr)
