The Role
Are you a dedicated Sales & Business Development Manager with a passion for driving growth in the renewable energy sector? Then this could be the role for you!
As the Sales & Business Development Manager at The Little Green Energy Company, you will lead our sales efforts, identifying and capitalising on new market opportunities. You will be responsible for managing and motivating the sales team, developing strategic initiatives, conducting feasibility assessments for investment purposes, and negotiating contracts. Your role will also involve securing necessary permissions for solar panel installations and managing key stakeholder relationships to ensure project success.
Leveraging your commercial expertise and leadership skills, you will help drive our commercial growth and maintain our position as a leader in the renewable energy industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Team Management: Lead and manage the sales team, including setting sales targets, forecasting, reporting, training, budgeting, and performance management to drive success and meet company objectives.
- Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with business goals, including market analysis, setting KPIs, and continuously optimising approaches to maximise revenue growth.
- Business Development & Lead Generation: Identify new market opportunities, proactively generate leads, and manage the sales pipeline to maintain a steady flow of prospects and drive business growth.
- Account & Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with customers and stakeholders, securing necessary permissions for solar panel installations and enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Market Analysis & Competitive Intelligence: Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to adapt sales strategies, keeping TLGEC ahead of market shifts.
- Contract Negotiation & Deal Closing: Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with clients, managing the closing process to achieve sales targets and foster long-term relationships.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with marketing, design, production, and operations teams to ensure seamless project execution and alignment with sales efforts.
- Product Knowledge & Training: Stay updated on solar technologies and industry trends, providing regular training to the sales team to enhance product knowledge and selling skills.
- Performance Analysis & Continuous Improvement: Analyse sales performance data, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to boost team efficiency and results.
What we’re looking for:
- Leadership and People Management: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a high-performing sales team within a renewables, technical or construction-based industry. Experience in coaching, performance management, and driving teams to exceed targets.
- Sales and Business Development Expertise: Demonstrated success in developing and executing sales strategies, driving business growth, and expanding market reach. Exceptional networking skills to build valuable industry relationships and foster new business opportunities.
- Technical Knowledge and Quick Learning Ability: Ability to quickly learn, implement, and communicate complex technical knowledge.
- Negotiation and Deal Closing: Exceptional negotiation skills with a track record of closing deals effectively, managing contract terms, and building long-term client relationships.
- Market Analysis and Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical mindset to assess market trends, competitor activities, and industry dynamics, enabling the development of proactive and adaptive sales strategies.
- Relationship Building and Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams, effectively representing the company professionally and confidently at all levels.
- Technical Proficiency: High-level proficiency with CRM systems, sales analytics tools, and other software essential for tracking performance, managing customer data, and optimizing sales processes.
Extra Credit:
- Deep Knowledge of Solar Technology: Advanced understanding of solar panel, battery, and renewable energy technologies, and experience selling solar energy systems or related construction products and services.
- Experience with Local Government Frameworks: Familiarity with local government processes and frameworks, enhancing the ability to navigate regulatory landscapes and secure necessary project permissions.
