The Role:
OpenSolar offers its platform free to solar contractors and generates revenue through industry partners who sell products and services inside the software. The Growth/Monetization function helps expand those revenue streams and ensures teams across OpenSolar apply a “monetization lens” to the value we create.
We’re hiring a Marketing Lead for the USA, and APAC. You’ll lead high-priority, cross-functional strategic initiatives from end to end, with direct exposure to executive leaders. This role reports to the Global Head of Growth, a member of the OpenSolar executive team.
In this role, you’ll design and execute original and innovative marketing campaigns to OpenSolar’s solar pro user base. You’ll also work directly with our 150+ partners to grow their presence on the platform, and grow OpenSolar amongst their regional user bases. It’s an excellent fit for someone who is highly organized, creative, and skilled at communicating sophisticated technology to busy professionals. In this high-visibility role, you will work closely with executive leaders and be a key player in the delivery of strategic projects.
What you’ll be doing:
- Write, design, and execute local marketing campaigns to American, Australian, New Zealanders, Indian and Southeast Asian solar installers, using tools such as:
-Targeted direct email marketing campaigns
-Social media campaigns, working closely with the global social media coordinator and content team
-Paid Google Search / SEM campaigns
-In-platform advertising campaigns
-Co-marketing campaigns with our network of over 150 partners
-Website landing pages
-Blogs
-Press releases
- Manage marketing communications calendar, ensuring timely, strategic, and coordinated execution of campaigns across channels and regions
- Promote and grow awareness of all platform features to solar installers to deepen engagement with the OpenSolar platform
- Oversee the execution of marketing packages sold to partners, managing end-to-end campaign delivery, coordinating partner engagement, and leading a team member to ensure successful campaign setup and performance.
- Collaborate with local partners such as finance, manufacturing and solar distribution companies to design and execute co-marketing campaigns to the partners’ solar installer customer bases
- Work the local OpenSolar teams in your regions of focus to uncover and execute on local PR opportunities to expand awareness and interest in OpenSolar
- Collaborate with the sales teams in your regions to understand product functionality, regional user experience, and customer needs in order to inform marketing content and keep stakeholders aligned on ongoing marketing initiatives
- Work with the OpenSolar business intelligence team to design reporting on the growth and platform behavior of local solar installers, and the measurement of your campaigns
- Engage local solar installers to build a database of testimonials that can be used in the marketing of OpenSolar
- Support OpenSolar’s presence at conferences in your regions by supporting booth exhibitions, creating high-quality marketing materials, including booth design, brochures, and branded swag, and assisting budget and ROI tracking
- Lead a team, initially of two direct reports, and lead large groups of Openers cross functionally on key strategic projects such as major product introductions
What you’ll need:
Marketing Skills:
- 5+ years of marketing experience, preferably B2B experience and ideally marketing to solar installers
- Proven track record in designing and executing localized marketing campaigns
- Experience in partner marketing is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with social media dynamics and social media marketing
- Proven experience in marketing campaign measurement and ROI analysis
- Demonstrable familiarity with SEM and SEO
Other skills:
- Experience working with product management and web development teams to build campaign assets such as landing pages and OpenSolar Expo stands
- Strong ability to self-motivate and innovate without waiting for direction
- Project management skills to manage matrixed cross-functional teams, to ensure they execute per your requirements
- Excellent relationship building skills and the ability to establish trusted, collaborative relationships with our many global and local partners
- Proven ability to manage, guide, motivate and mentor direct reports
Preferred Experience - Nice-to-Haves:
- Background in SaaS platform products
- Familiarity with Hubspot
- Experience with Canva
