The Role:

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Head of Product to lead OpenSolar's global Product function based in Sydney.

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will be responsible for defining and executing OpenSolar's product strategy, ensuring our roadmap delivers exceptional value to customers while supporting the company's commercial and strategic objectives.

You will lead a global team of Product Managers and Product Owners, embedding agile ways of working across the organisation and driving a collaborative product development process that brings together stakeholders from Engineering, Design, Revenue, Customer Success and Marketing.

This role requires an organised, customer-focused leader who can balance long-term strategic thinking with day-to-day execution. You will play a critical role in prioritising investment, managing competing business needs, and ensuring our product teams are focused on delivering the highest-value outcomes.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop, own and communicate OpenSolar's global product strategy and roadmap.
  • Partner with business stakeholders across the organisation to prioritise initiatives that align with company strategy and customer needs.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing global Product team, providing coaching, mentoring and career development.
  • Champion agile transformation and continuously improve agile ways of working across Product, Design and Engineering teams.
  • Facilitate roadmap planning and prioritisation, ensuring transparency around delivery, dependencies and business value.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Design leadership to ensure efficient product delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Balance customer feedback, market opportunities, commercial priorities and technical considerations when making roadmap decisions.
  • Establish strong product governance, including product planning, backlog management, release planning and quarterly roadmap reviews.
  • Define and monitor product success through data, customer insights and key performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with Revenue, Marketing and Customer Success teams to ensure successful product launches and customer adoption.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation and continuous learning across the Product organisation.
  • Represent Product within the Executive Leadership Team, providing strategic recommendations and regular updates on roadmap delivery and product performance.

Objectives of the Role:

  • Product Strategy: Develop and execute a product strategy that supports OpenSolar's mission and long-term business objectives while delivering exceptional customer outcomes.
  • Roadmap Delivery: Own and manage the global product roadmap, ensuring priorities are aligned across business stakeholders and delivered through effective planning and execution.
  • Agile Excellence: Lead the ongoing evolution of OpenSolar's agile operating model by embedding best practices, improving delivery predictability and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
  • Product Leadership: Build, lead and develop a world-class Product organisation with a strong culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Customer Focus: Ensure customer insights, market feedback and product analytics are central to roadmap decisions and product innovation.
  • Business Partnership: Partner effectively with Engineering, Design, Revenue, Customer Success and Marketing to ensure product investment delivers measurable business outcomes.

What you’ll need:

  • 10+ years' experience leading Product teams within technology or SaaS organisations.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing product strategy and managing complex product roadmaps.
  • Extensive experience leading Product Managers and building high-performing, globally distributed teams.
  • Strong understanding of agile product development methodologies and experience leading agile transformation initiatives.
  • Experience working closely with Engineering and Design teams to deliver high-quality software products.
  • Proven ability to balance customer needs, commercial priorities and technical constraints when making product decisions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and align senior leaders across multiple functions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with experience using data to inform product decisions.
  • Exceptional communication, planning and organisational skills.
  • Experience within a high-growth technology company is highly desirable.
  • Experience within renewable energy, solar or climate technology is advantageous but not essential.
