The Role:
The Product Solutions Engineer sits within the Product organization and serves as the technical and product-facing bridge between OpenSolar and the third-party vendors who integrate into our platform.
Your initial focus will be on supporting equipment wholesalers, distributors, and manufacturers—helping them connect their product catalogs, pricing data, fulfilment services, availability feeds, and related digital tools to the OpenSolar platform.
You will play a critical role in reducing integration complexity for external partners, increasing the accuracy and richness of data available to installers, and ensuring integrations align with OpenSolar’s API standards, product vision, and user experience goals.
This role blends technical problem-solving, product design thinking, partner enablement, and cross-functional collaboration. The cross functional element also includes ongoing partner & relationship management to ensure long lived and successful partnerships.
What you’ll be doing:
Partner Integration Support
- Guide vendors through integrating their catalogs, SKUs, pricing models, availability data, and service offerings into the OpenSolar platform.
- Define integration requirements and ensure they meet OpenSolar’s product and technical standards.
- Help partners structure and maintain large product datasets, ensuring accuracy, hierarchy alignment, and compatibility with OpenSolar’s design and sales tools.
- Simplify complex data and workflow challenges so partners can efficiently onboard and maintain their integrations
- Ongoing partner support and relationship management alongside the BD team.
Technical Problem-Solving
- Diagnose issues related to authentication, data synchronization, catalog ingestion, API behaviour, and integration performance.
- Build scripts, tools, and reference examples to streamline partner integrations and reduce repetitive overhead.
- Work closely with Engineering to investigate and resolve technical escalations.
Product Collaboration
- Translate partner needs and integration challenges into actionable insights for the Product team.
- Advocate for features or improvements that enhance the developer experience, catalog ingestion pipeline, or integration workflows.
- Assist in defining roadmap items that expand the value of the platform for vendors and installers.
Documentation, Standards & Quality
- Produce clear integration guides, schema explanations, sample payloads, and QA checklists.
- Ensure consistency across integrations by enforcing OpenSolar’s quality and performance standards.
- Help evolve internal playbooks for onboarding new vendors.
What you’ll need:
- 3–6+ years in a technical role such as Solutions Engineer, Integration Engineer, Technical Consultant, or similar.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, authentication methods, and common integration patterns.
- Experience working with large product or catalog datasets—normalization, versioning, mapping, or ingestion pipelines.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills, especially when working with ambiguous data or multi-party workflows.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with Product and Engineering teams.
Other skills:
- Confident leading cross-functional teams, driving alignment, and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Skilled at providing clear direction, making decisions with incomplete information, and driving momentum when projects encounter issues.
- Excellent problem-solving ability, able to break down complex challenges, anticipate roadblocks, and implement practical solutions.
- Solid understanding of software development processes (Agile/Scrum) and tools such as Jira, Monday etc.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive; thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments and great at building relationships.
Preferred Experience - Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with ecommerce, B2B marketplaces, procurement platforms, or ERP-style catalog systems.
- Familiarity with solar hardware, BOS components, or distributor operations.
- Scripting experience (Python, JavaScript) for debugging, data transformation, or building prototypes.
- Experience onboarding external partners onto a SaaS platform or API ecosystem.
